and US Highway 377, 9 miles south of Interstate 40 and 50 miles east
southeast of Oklahoma City.
Taking its name from the Creek word meaning "runaway"
or "those who camp at a distance," Seminole County was originally part
of the Seminole Nation.
Gusher Days is a 3-day celebration of Seminole's oil boom history. It
features a carnival, live music, food concessions, bull riding
competition, car and tractor show, bass tournament, parade, arm
wrestling competition and more.
Recreational facilities abound in Seminole. There are
city parks, 24 tennis courts, several little league ballparks and an
